Ok, so I went to the tile store and WOWEEE was it overwhelming!  How does one go about choosing a design for creating a tile backsplash in their kitchen?  I know I know, my father is a fantastic tile installer, stone layer and marble master who has been in the business for 30 years but I don't know how he comes up with his ideas.  I can't ask him for help because he is Texas and says he must visualize the work that needs to be done.  Anyone have any pics of their homes that I could peak at?

Quick idea for you - both Home Depot and Lowes have some interesting designs that are pre-done. They come in 6" to 12" lengths and are approximately 4" high. I have an example of one of these designs and pics and will upload it so you can see.

Okay, here is one example for you.  This is a renovation that was done by NestBrokers Construction on a property in Sandy Springs, Georgia.  I have shown before and after pics.  The tile backsplash in this particular property was a solid backsplace in a staggered brick pattern.  I will have to upload another couple photos of the pre-designed templates I was telling you about.

This shows the kitchen pre-renovation
This shows the staggered backsplash. Notice the solid tile helps to bring continuity to the design.

hate to ask this - but does the home trends in your area support putting more money into your house? home improvements are great but sometimes they may not be a good investment. At least that's what my Dad tells me.
