Builder magazine has named San Antonio as one of the healthiest housing markets in the country.

Builder magazine and Hanley Wood Market Intelligence looked at the 75 largest markets in the country to determine which 15 markets were in the best shape. Texas took the top five spots... and the rankings are....

1. Houston
2. Austin
3. Fort Worth
4. San Antonio
5. Dallas

"The healthiest markets have many things in common. Most of them are great places to live, either close to the ocean, mountains, or major universities. Most of them didn't have a huge run-up in prices during the boom and aren't experiencing rampant deflation during the bust," Builder Magazine says.

San Antonio builder facts:

2008 total building permits: 10,261
