I saw this and it made me smile.
I, like a few other people probably like moving the yard. The two downsides to it can be the noise and on the old occassion starting the mower.
Being from the UK, it is not uncommon to see an electric mower with extension cable trialling behind, awaiting to be cut in half. And remember the UK is a 240v domestic system, so you will feel it.
Anyway, I have never seen a battery operated mover........ Introducing the Neuton® Battery Mower

Neuton, located in Vergennes, Vermonts, started producing these mowers in 1985.
"Perhaps it was our clean Vermont air or our quiet surroundings that convinced us there had to be a better way to mow our lawns. That's what led us to the revolutionary Neuton Battery Powered Mower."
The CE 6.2 model is ideal for lawns up to 1/3 acre (about 15,000 sq. ft.) on a single charge. Additional batteries are avialble as an extra if you required more acreage.
The Environmental Protection Agency recommends battery-powered mowers like Neuton® Mowers. And when you compare the facts, it's easy to see why:
Fact 1: A gas mower spews 87 lbs. of the greenhouse gas CO2, and 54 lbs. of other pollutants into your air every year.
Fact 2: Over 17 million gallons of gas are spilled each year refueling lawn and garden equipment - more petroleum than was spilled by the Exxon Valdez.
Fact 3: Gas-powered mowers send over 1,800 times the hydrocarbons into the atmosphere when compared to the environmentally-sound choice of battery-powered mowers.
Well over 5 million of these gas powered machines are still sold in the U.S. every year.
But these gas powered machines have barely evolved in over half a century. In today's world that's really behind the times. According to the EPA, gas mowers are reponsible for nearly 5% of our nation's total air pollution.
Over 800 million gallons of gasoline are used mowing our nation's lawns every year. And if you operate one for more than 15 minutes, experts advise you to wear hearing protection.
When you mow with the Battery-Powered Neuton Mower, you are helping to:
• Eliminate accidental fuel spillage (a major contaminate to our underground water tables).
• Eliminate pollutants and carbon emissions (mowing 1 hour with a gas mower produces the equivalent pollution as driving a car 50 miles).
• Eliminate ear-damaging noise (gas mowers can damage your hearing and the peace & quiet of your neighborhood!).
Here's what some of the experts have to say:
"The Neuton Mower has 4 advantages. First of all, the peace and quiet of the neighborhood. Second, the operator doesn't have to wear hearing protection. Third, you don't have gasoline in your trunk and don't have to store it in your garage. And fourth, you don't have to walk in the exhaust stream of an internal combustion engine as you mow your lawn. You're pushing a clean, quiet lawn mower."
- Noise Pollution Clearinghouse
"Studies have shown gas powered mowers to be major polluters of the environment, up to 30 times worse than automobiles. The alternative is an electric rotary mower, which is far more earth friendly."
When you consider the ever increasing price of fuel, a battery mower starts to make more sence, even
with the additional purchase cost. The CE 6.2 model shown above is approximately $479.00.
The cost of recharging the battery is approximatley 10 cents, so even on a small yard that's must be a saving.
Neuton offer a 6 month Risk Free Trial, see their website for details.
Neuton® donates 1% of company profits to non-profit organizations that are cleaning up the air we breath. If you know a non-profit that would like to receive a Neuton mower to use in their media or fundraising campaigns, see their website for further details.
So in my book their is three reasons to go and buy one, quieter nieghborhoods, environmentally friendly and the cost of gas.
Can you ever see the day that a communities covenants only allow battery mowers!!!!
