California Dreamin'.........Don't give the Notary a hard time!

    I ran across another "lawfully challenged" individual (mortgage broker) yesterday. He just wanted to get his deal done and was truly "put off" by my adherence to the law.  Although he didn't cross over the line, he came very close.  I had to shut him down, which I have no problem doing.  But I sometimes wish I had this item printed on a business card...[I imagine myself whipping it from a holster like a sixgun...somewhere behind me I hear the crack of a whip...]


8225. (a) Any person who solicits, coerces, or in any manner
influences a notary public to perform an improper notarial act
knowing that act to be an improper notarial act, including any act
required of a notary public under Section 8206, shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor.
(c) The penalty provided by this section is not an exclusive
remedy, and does not affect any other relief or remedy provided by
law.

[...I hear cowboys sing as the notary rides off into the sunset...]

Seriously, what section (c) is talking about is that if you are convicted of that misdemeanor, that might only be the beginning of a Signing Agents worries...we're still on the hook....so we just can't do it!!!
